Wayne’s World
Over this past week, Lil Wayne; Dwayne Carter left his court meeting, for an aching tooth. He was charged with felony gun possession, on July 7th 2007, when the police pulled over his tour bus over also arresting one of his friends on the bus for criminal possession of marijuana. He pleaded guilty to these charges on October 22nd 2009; he was in possession of a 40 caliber semi automatic, when he was arrested, right after his concert in New York. That night at his concert he had repeated numerous times how the police were hassling him, and he had even threatened not to perform in New York ever again. On his court date on February 2nd 2010 he had to leave the court room due to emergency dental problems. His sentence is rescheduled for March 2nd, where he will be sentenced eight to ten months in jail. Part of his plea deal includes taking away his passport; he will also be serving this in a city jail rather than a state prison.
This sentencing is coming right at the peak of Lil’ Wayne’s music career. For the past two years Lil’ Wayne has been at the top of every hip hop chart. Gucci Mane La’ flare was just recently sentenced to a year in jail leaving it up to Wayne, considering that they were to two top artists. They still will, be both having albums that came out and Wayne’s should come out once he’s in prison. Gucci’s album name is Roderick Davis Vs. the state, and Lil’ Wayne’s is Lil’ Wayne Vs. the State. These albums are previously recorded so that they have music still coming out once their locked up. He was told that he can’t push back his court date’s anymore after doing so from July 2007.
Lil’ Wayne has been one of the most influential artists since 2006, and the day he gets out of prison he will be right back on top. He will me greatly missed by the music industry and fans. Drake in an interview, was saying that, “this is good for Wayne and that N*gga’s who always get money, eight month’s ain’t nothin’ I know some that have been locked up for 20 years.” Gucci Mane La flare has been making money selling albums on iTunes and selling CDs in stores still making money when he’s locked up, I assume it will be the same for Lil’ Wayne.
